Hochkönig Ski Region
Winter holidays at the “peak of your emotions”… What does that mean for your ski or snowboard adventure? Quite simply: magical scenery, countless variety-packed pistes and glistening deep-snow slopes for freeriders. Three funparks for shredding, a funslope and numerous friendly huts, such as our Tischlerhütte on the Aberg. The Hochkönig ski region is part of the Ski amadé ticket alliance, with fantastic snow conditions from December to April.
Hanseilift: lift practically right at our doorstep
You are just a few meters from the Hanseilift on our local mountain, the Natrun. It will carry you to the skiing enjoyment you have been yearning for, as well as to the Natrunbahn, which connects the entire Hochkönig ski area. Without having to ride the ski bus, you will be able to reach the Tischlerhütte with ease, where delectable snacks and excellent meals await.
The Königstour – a superlative ski circuit
The Königstour is simply breathtaking: Experience 6 mountains, 35 piste kilometers and a 7500-meter elevation change, all in a single day. The kind of skiing enjoyment you otherwise only encounter at the Sella Ronda in South Tyrol or the Weisser Ring on the Arlberg. And with a little bit of luck, you might also “bump into” ski stars like Marlies and Bernadette Schild: After all, they love the extraordinary piste conditions and astonishing views of the Hochkönig massif just as much as you do.

Freeriding & Ski Touring
Freeriding is about far more than being the first to cut tracks across virgin snow. It is a feeling of boundless freedom. Of gliding across glistening-white fields of snow. The lightness of fresh powder and that gentle crunch beneath your skis or snowboard. It is the pumping adrenaline and feeling of pure joy when you know you’ve laid down a perfect run. Freedom. Feel it, live it, relish it.
Can you barely wait to feel the freedom of freeriding for yourself? If so, go ahead and watch this Hochkönig video:
>> Freeriding – pure freedom in the Hochkönig ski region.
Ski tourers also love the freedom as, with skins on their skis, they explore fairytale winter landscapes, remote valleys, snowy summits and pristine mountainsides, along with unforgettable deep-snow runs. Here with us, tourers find tours that are absolutely majestic: allowing them to soak up the tranquility of nature, hearing nothing but their own breath and the barely perceptible flutter of sparkling snow crystals.
Guided ski tours
Are you interested in taking part in a guided ski tour? Go for it! Every week, certified mountain and ski guides offer ski tours for individuals as well as groups. And with the Hochkönig Card, you will even qualify for a discounted price. Our dedicated reception team will be happy to help you find the provider that’s best for you.
For those of you who would like to plan your own tour, here’s an idea:
How about a nightfall tour on Wednesday beneath a starry sky? Make the climb up to the Tischlerhütte on the Aberg once the lifts have stopped running at around 4:30 PM. The pistes themselves stay open until 10 PM. Especially for tourers and night-skiing fans, every Wednesday evening at the Tischlerhütte we serve tender grilled spareribs.
Cross-country fans find it hard knowing where to start, with 40 km of cross-country trails to choose from. Accompanied by magnificent alpine scenery, the fresh mountain air will invigorate you and propel you to new heights – for example, on the alpine trails next to the Arthurhaus and on the Dientner Sattel. If you crave a more extended cross-country experience, you can push yourself to your absolute limits on the Gasteg night trail in Maria Alm. Which will also work up an even heartier appetite for that extended brunch the following morning.
Après ski – party, dance, have fun!
As the day of skiing winds down, party fever is already heating up in Maria Alm. Time for everybody to rock, roll, drink and party for all it’s worth. Here’s a quick overview of the best après-ski addresses in town.
